Spring 2016 Playlist + Weekly Goals

Good morning and Happy Wednesday! Half way to the weekend again. WOOP WOOP!

Pregnancy is so strange. This week, I feel like I am killing it at the gym. So. Much. Energy. Like bopping along to my playlist on the stair master, climbing sideways, backwards, leg lifts. Maybe it's down to two rest days a week, or bringing the intensity down a bit, but this week, I feel really great. Last week, honestly I was thinking how much longer can I do this?! poor. pitiful. me! I'm really enjoying these feel great moments. The not so great weeks have made me appreciate them so much more. Anywho, I had a request for a playlist share. I know a lot of you are neck deep in long run season, burning through music on the daily. Pregnancy perk! 34 Week Pregnancy Update

On Monday morning, I had my 34 week check in with my doctor. I have one more appointment at 36 weeks, then begin the weekly visits.Final countdown style. I feel my body changing rapidly. Everyday I wake up more noticeably pregnant than the day before. This kid is not playin.

How far along? 34 weeks

Total weight gain: 13lbs- loss of 1 pound this visit. I have no explanation. I ate trash all weekend. I'm sure we'll pick it back up later

Maternity clothes? Mostly all maternity though I am still wearing a slew of pre-pregnancy shirts & those VS fold over yoga pants that I want to live the rest of my life in.

Sleep: I have trouble getting comfortable, rolling over is an aerobic feat and I wake up to pee three times a night. Turbo.

Best moment this week: Everyday closer to B Day (Birth Day) is the best moment of the week lol

Miss anything? I miss being able to run. I keep seeing this tall lean lady at the gym bouncing away on the treadmill and I feel so envious of how freely she moves her body. Le Sigh. I miss feeling strong. I miss feeling lean. BUT I know these are all things I will have again. I miss laying on my stomach. I miss caffeine. I can practically taste the C4 already....

Movement: All the time. Especially when I'm sitting. Last week I felt an exploratory foot on the outside of my rib cage. Thankfully he likes stretching not kicking

Food cravings: I'm into carbs. Specifically sandwiches. I don't think I've eaten so many sandwiches since my Mom was packing my lunch for me. It's gonna be such a sad day for me when the carb train comes to a stop

Anything making you queasy or sick: No one thing specifically. If I don't eat frequent enough though I do get nauseated.

Gender: Boy :)

Symptoms: I am pregnant in everything I do.

Belly button in or out? In

Wedding rings on or off? On

Happy or moody most of the time: I feel really great. Super happy and confident in all aspects of life actually. Overall, I am enjoying pregnancy

Looking forward to: Meeting my baby. I keep imaging the moment he will be placed on my chest. Seeing his sweet face, and loving on this little boy I already love way too much.

Just keep swimming, just keep swimming....

Good morning and Happy Thursday! This week is just zipping right on by, don't blink or you'll miss it, I can't believe it's Thursday and I'm just getting around to posting. Yikes!

Huge thank you to everyone in response to my post partum check list! I got so much valuable intel from you Mommas who have walked the walked, and I truly feel as prepared as humanly possible for what's coming. At this point, I am just excited to meet our baby.

Nick finished up one of his projects in the nursery this last weekend, he is so handy I tell you, and with one project to go, all we need is a baby. It's killing me not to share anything from our nursery, so here's a little preview

This room has truly become my favorite room in our whole house. There's a few before pictures of the room in this post. It was a total junk room. The shelves are a Nick original, he used these plans,  and the chair came from Wayfair. More details to follow in a post all about the nursery. We are almost done! I seriously love this room.

Exercise is getting really challenging, but I continue to put in my time at the gym. I felt a second endurance drop off over the course of the last week. My body is definitely slowing down as the end nears, but I do feel like it's important for me to keep moving. At this point I am down to 5 days a week work outs. I really feel like I need two rest days a week.

I'm keeping to incline walking, which is getting challenging at my regular 4.0 speed but I continue to make do. The stair master has gotten really tough, and I've had to bring down my intensity level for the first time since the first trimester. I do find with the decreased intensity level, the stair master is still a great option for me. It's really incredible what the body goes through and I am just happy to continue to be able to move overall at this stage. I make myself take the stairs at work, drink half of my body weight in water every day, and we are now on a twice a day belly butter regimen. This little baby is doing exactly what he's supposed to be doing, fattening up. Now I know exactly why people say the last bit is the longest.

Post Partum Preperation + Questions

Good morning and TGIF!!! It's been a really great week in the baby baking department. I feel really great overall and continue to truck along. Our nursery is nearing completion and I am SO so excited to share the finished product. Nick has a few little projects he is working on and then everything will be complete. (Decorative stuff).

It looks like we will be ready for baby Noel to arrive any day in March, should he come early. However, I know that the first baby is notoriously late, so I fully expect to still be pregnant come April 10th cause that's how life works.

Anywho, now that we are prepared for baby boy Noel to join us, I'm starting to get myself ready, or as ready as humanly possible, for birth and post partum care.

I realize I haven't talked much about birth since I began documenting my pregnancy. Honestly, it's because I don't really have that many concerns about birth. I know, I'm crazy. I don't have any anxiety or stress about giving birth, the process of giving birth, or anything involved with the medical procedures. I trust my doctor, I have confidence in myself, and I know we will be at the very best hospital in our area should something go wrong. Naturally, I have some preferences in mind, but overall I just want him to arrive safely. That is my singular goal. For my baby to have a safe and healthy delivery.  Lawd day I can't wait to see this little boy's face. As long as that happens, I will be one very happy Momma bear.

I am quite aware that this will not be the most glamorous time in my life, and I just want to feel prepared. Here is my question for you experienced Moms, what's on the must have post partum care list?

So far I have the following:

1. Always Infinity Extra Heavy Overnight Pads
2. Tucks med Pads
3. Colace
4. Nursing pads
5. Belly Bandit
6. Depends Underwear
7. Brondell Travel Bidet
8. Nursing Bras
9. Nursing Camis
10. Robe

What am I missing? What's an item you couldn't get by without?

Weekly Goals + Fitness Update

Lawd Day this third trimester is not messing around. Each day I find my work outs get more challenging. Usually, once I'm at the gym and in motion, I'm fine. I should say, each day I find staying motivated is more and more challenging. A lot of days I am tired and have the don't wants

I'm having to constantly remind myself how great a work out makes me feel on the inside, and that's usually solid motivation. When that fails, I remind myself that I have made it 33 weeks into pregnancy with a solid fitness routine. I can hang in there for 7 more weeks. What's 7 weeks at this point right?!  Ignorance is bliss.

I know maintaining my fitness routine will only have positive benefits so I gotta keep trucking. I won't lie and say it's easy, but I will say it is worth it to me to continue.

At this stage, I'm limited to almost exclusively pregnancy work outs. I continue to feel good with incline walks, the stair master, and the elliptical. Honestly, the elliptical is my go to on days when motivation is extra low. As far as weight training goes, I am pretty limited. Core work is at a plank and oblique level only. I make myself complete three sets of 30 seconds planks at least three times a week. Planks have been great for me throughout my pregnancy, without a doubt. That said, total transparency, planks are probably my least favorite exercise to perform, but since it's all I can do, that's what I do. Suck it up buttercup. I'm looking forward to being able to have variety in my core routines. I miss decline sit ups, the roman chair, ab glides, and all floor work in general. I am definitely bringing back 6 week 6 pack when I get the all clear to resume fitness post partum. Holler at me Michaels!

All that said,  Pinterest has been a wonderful resource for a slew of pregnancy work outs. I keep a folder of these work outs saved on my phone and that's my resource for each day. I can follow instructions like a champ.

Anywho, here's been my plan for this week:

Monday:
30 Minutes Stair Master
Leg & Core Strength

Tuesday:
Rest Day (Mardi Gras Holiday)

Wednesday:
Incline Walk/ Circuit Training

Thursday:
30 Minutes Stair Master
Chest & Shoulder Strength

Friday:
Incline Walk
Circuit Training

Saturday:
30 Minutes Stair Master
Total Body Strength

Sunday:
30 Minutes Elliptical
Light Strength
