POTM Check In + Puppy Run Updates

Oh lookie there, a week and half went by and not one single post from me. I got 99 excuses but a run ain't one!

I have been straight nailing my work outs lately. I feel a-maz-ing. Amazing! I can feel my endurance picking up a little more than a week out from my first half of the season, Baton Rouge Beach Half Marathon. It's really incredible how naturally distance running comes after a few years experience. In the beginning, I couldn't have imagined jumping up in distance and mileage so quickly, and without injury. Knock on wood. Also, marathon training will do crazy wonky things to your perception of a long run.

I pledged to pile on 100 miles instead of the pounds in November. I have succeeded. Or I will have succeeded after my Thursday morning Turkey Trot. More on that in a second. I haven't gained or lost any weight in November, and I really piled on those miles. I should finish up the month Saturday at 111 miles. 11 is my lucky number, what's up holler!

I have been having major technology issues. My phone keeps dying on me during my runs. My mophie has kicked the bucket, and I don't want to buy another. I really want a new phone, holding out until after Christmas. It's a blessing and a curse, however, these gadgets I can't rely on. On one hand, when my phone kicks the bucket, it takes some pressure off. I can just enjoy the simple pleasure of my feet hitting the ground and the air rushing in and out of my chest. I don't have to worry about pace, or how this song or that song would be more fun to run to. I can just run. Ya know, the way people used to run before we had all of this stuff.

The baby dogs and I have been doing two runs a week together, Tuesday and Thursday shorter runs. Nick thinks the running is why they are showing me overt favoritism as of late.

Cuddles while we watched our Saints lose (NOLA loves to watch TV)
These little dogs love to run. Love it. When I put on my run gear and snap on my SPI Belt they could lose it with the barking and wiggles. They are both steadily improving with their commands such as heel and leave it. Neither dog is running further than 3 miles at a time presently. I can't take them both out together at the same time. They can and will over power me.

Right now I have a 1.75 mile loop, 2.25 mile loop, and a 3.25 mile loop I run them on. I run the loop once (distance varying) switch out the puppy, and run another loop with the second. It seems to be working well for all of us at present, and makes the time fly by for me! I don't want to push them too far in distance too fast, although I swear Nacho could go all day. I'll probably keep them hanging out around this distance through at least the first of the year.

December Goals! Blog more consistently, iron out a marathon training plan am I doing that again?!, smile more, worry less, work harder- in all aspects.

What are your December goals?

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours! Thanks for reading my inconsistent beeble babble here. It gives me good juju, thanks to you!

Working off the Weekend Carbload

Jessica and Nathan's wedding weekend was a resounding success, an outrageously fun time, a celebration we won't be forgetting. Note- this post is not the recap.

Friday was an action packed day from start to finish. I started the day with a 5:30am wake up call immediately followed with a cold ten mile run, and wrapped it up at midnight with a champagne buzz. Funny thing is I literally never even had time to feel tired. We just kept going. Story of my life.

I was surprised at my long run endurance.  Especially since I ran four days in a row without a cross training day. This is the furthest I've run since the spring, as I skipped over the 9 mile half training run to get myself ready for the half on December 6th. I think it's the cold weather putting a pep in my step. That and Danielle ran the last 3.5 miles with me, company makes the run so much better!

Saturday began at 6:30am, and I honestly don't remember what time sleepy time came sometime on Sunday morning. I literally ate cake in my pajamas all day Sunday. All day. It was amazing.

I ate pasta at least five times throughout the weekend which is greater than the sum of my 2014 pasta intake to date, I'm wearing stretchy pants at work. I ate more cake than should be admitted, and all of the champagne. I thought about totaling up exactly how many champagne bottles we made it through during the weekend but some things in life are better left a mystery. I regret nothing.

I'll recap the wedding soon. Of course I've got like four pictures to support my stories, but I know the photographers got some great ones. Recap soon!

Here's what I'm going to do to all those carbs I loaded up on this week:

Monday:
RIPPED

Tuesday:
3 Mile Run & Strength

Wednesday:
5 Mile Run & Strength

Thursday
3 Mile Run & Strength

Friday
Cross Train & Strength

Saturday
11 Mile Run

Sunday
Rest

How was your weekend?
What's the weather like in your neck of the woods?

Elle Noel gets a new look

Thanks for stopping by today! Do things look a little different around here?! Cause they are! I think I first mentioned the idea of re-branding early in the summer, it's taken a hot minute for me to get around to total commitment. We do things slow in the south.

Huge thank you to Erin for her amazing work and patience in working with me. It took me a long time to one be ready, two figure out what I wanted to do, and three get the ball rolling! I'm loving this new look!

The new images are courtesy of our dear friend Sam. She's incredible. I can't believe she made us look so good!

The pups were tired- it's a ruff life

Please be patient with me while I get all of my wires connected aka links working and reorganizing my little virtual space.

POTM Checkin. I'm ahead on miles or I was until my phone died just shy of the four mile marker last night on my five mile run.

This means that two bad terrible things happened to me.

One: I had to run the last 1.13 miles without any music. All because I wrote that music post yesterday. Of course that would happen. Thanks Universe, I can hear you laughing

Two: I'll have to make up that 1.13 miles elsewhere to hit my 100 miles in November goal. Bah humbug.

Type A Lady Running Problems

In other news, I won't be around tomorrow. Today is my Friday. Whazzup! It's wedding weekend, there's tans to spray, nails to do, and wine to drink! No, I will not weigh in on Monday. Run run run

Hope you have a fabulous weekend!

Where does your music come from?

Anytime I see someone exercising in any capacity without music, I think to myself Now that's a super power. I literally can not do it. Unless, I have someone to talk to, and if I'm able to carry on a conversation, I'm not working hard enough. Unless it's on the long run, then I try to spend at least the first half running my yap a little bit, helps me pace.

Generally speaking though, gotta have the tunes.

This time of year especially, when I'm logging serious mileage, I burn through music at an alarming rate. I need to fill in the space with new power songs weekly.  I'd be lying if I said Nick never comments on my increasing music consumption as I download music from iTunes. AKA pay for every single song. Basically, I'm locked into an iPhone for the foreseeable future.

True confessions, my music consumption is not limited to running tunes in large volume. I have to have tunes at my desk, in the car, at home when I'm cleaning, when I have a dance party for one. Don't play like you don't do that. Thankfully or regrettably I have a 64G iPhone so there is no slowing down my desire to consume all of the music.

It's a pricey little habit, and damn you Taylor Swift with all of your catchy new tunes a la 1989. I have no idea why I'm playing onesey twosey with those downloads. You know you'll end up with the whole album.

Prior to iTunes, I never purchased music this way. Remember those old things we used to have to buy? Compact something?

My question for you, are you an iTunes addict? Pandora? Spotify? How do you get your fix?

Also- our family pictures are in, sneaky peak below which means Elle Noel is finally getting her a little face lift thanks to Erin! I'm ready to get this blog rolling into its next chapter...
