Laissez les bons temps rouler!

WAAHOOOOO!!! It's a Friday, and it's extra long weekend time, oh yeahs! It's carnival time down round here, and I could not be more excited for a rowdy weekend with my favorite peeps! Yap yap, they even let us off work for this shenanigans, mais if dat don't make you want to move I don't know what will!

Knowing what was waiting for me this weekend, food, booze, dancing, things you can't talk about on the internet, I had to KILL my work outs and be strict with my diet this week. I did just that. Oh yeahs, public pat on the back! There will be no razooing for me Friday night ( long run Saturday morning) but Saturday- Monday it is on. Tuesday is recovery day, gotta be practical heya! I'm even considering doing the Lundi Gras 5k Bar a thon. Running and drinking? Where have you been all my life?  Where do I sign? Just kidding. I'm playing that one by ear, my 21 year old mentality may not be able to keep up with my 26 year old reality. We shall see. This morning I was down another 3 pounds, two week loss, and I feel great! Hopefully that will be enough to keep my grubby little fingers out of too much boudin and king cake. #southlouisianaproblems

Beat Treadmill Boredom

I am happy to report that my knee has caused me ZERO pain during my runs this week. I haven't trusted my knee enough to head outdoors, as I'm still fearful I'll get far from home base and have to call for back up. No beuno. As of today right now, I do plan to take my long run to the street this Saturday morning. I am so incredibly excited about it too. This knee injury has been the PITS, a major bummer to say the least, BUT it has made me appreciate being able to run. I remember why I love to run so much. I'm amped up for a long run this weekend!

This week I've stayed indoors on the treadmill. The dreadmill. Don Don Don. Running the human hamster wheel is the ultimate in boring. The furthest I'm willing to run is 5 miles, and I have to have a plan when I step on the machine. I can not set the machine to 6.2 and zonk out for 50 minutes. I start thinking  pound pound pound pound, foot foot foot foot, when. is. this. gonna. end....oh 30 seconds went by! Awesome sauce.

Here were my run routines from this week. The last mile always feels very challenging. I'm usually thinking the faster you run the sooner it's over, I can do this. I can do this! I will do this! I know if I want to get better, I'll have to get uncomfortable.Increasing speed by distance gives me something to focus on, besides how bored I am, or how much I want to go ask the girl four treadmills down where she bought her run top because lord knows I have enough stuff!

In Bloom Boutique Give Away and Review

It is a good morning round here ya'll, want to know why?! Free stuff to give away, holler if you like free stuff. Everybody hollassss!!! A few weeks ago I was approached to do a review of a new clothing store, In Bloom Boutique. I opened my email and looked over my shoulder Who me?! Best day ever! 

I worked closely with Kelly, who wanted to make sure I got a piece to review that I would be excited to wear! I was walking on the wild side that day, and I choose The Leopard Ruffle Dress. Within a few days, I had the leopoard dress in my hot little hands! Their shipping was prompt, and packaging super cute. I actually wore this dress to brunch and the parade on this past Saturday. It was incredibly comfortable and I felt girly and fun! I can't wait for the weather to warm up so I can sport this dress with wedges and a TAN! I need one, bad bad. I am five foot TWELVE aka 6'0 and a size 4-6 dress. I'm wearing a medium and it fit loosely with extra wiggle room in hips which is my trouble zone. I got lots of compliments on this getup, and I will for sure wear this dress out this summer!

Snack Ideas

I am always looking for snack ideas. I'd rather snack than eat a full meal. I try to eat a little something every two to three hours. I need snacks to be easy to throw in my purse, and portion controlled for me. Individual packaging works best if you have grazing issues. If you graze, you know what I'm talking about, and if you don't graze, you won some type of genetic lottery so be thankful. Here's a few staples I always keep on hand:

Emerald's Dry Roasted Almonds are my favorite



FRUIT! I really love fruit, though I will admit to watching how much I consume as I do count my daily carb intake. Fruit is also great for morning shakes and that snack attack when you need something sweet. 


PB2: great in shakes, oatmeal, with a side of fruit, or by itself! 



Turkey perky jerky: low carb low cal, high protein turkey jerky that comes in an assortment of flavors. I buy mine at Target.

Quest bars are great for snacks, pre early morning run fuel, and breakfast on the go. I have yet to meet a Quest Bar I didn't like!



Edamame is a favorite for my husband and myself. He shops a lot at Sams Whole Sale, where edamame is sold at a great price in individually packaged bags ready to toss in microwave for a guilt free treat!

Last but certainly not least, the ultimate snack for me is popcorn. I eat it nearly everyday and I never feel bad about it. Life is meant to be lived, not endured!
