Cleanse Update, Knee Problems: Random Trash from Me

Alright cleanse day 5 and I'm down two pounds from Monday. Holler! I can't say I've been following Advocare's recommended diet with the cleanse. I've been doing a hybrid version of my own thang. some girls aren't meant to be tamed. MEOW must be Friday!

I like to follow macros more closely, as this is the most successful way for me to shed fat. Thank you Ashley for leading the way! I am NOT presently strictly counting macros, however I do loosely follow certain numbers. I'm a pretty boring eater and have been living on consistent staples. This is why I haven't been posting many meals lately. Oh look she's eating that egg white turkey scrambler for dinner again. Snooze fest.

Proteins: leanest ground turkey money can buy, boneless skinless grilled chicken breast, grilled fish (usually tilapia because it's cheap), egg whites, Turkey Jerky (snack), and Protein powders she think she fancy nah!

Carbs: Sweet Potatoes, Oats, Brown Rice, Fruit,  Popcorn somethings you just can't live without

Fats: Peanut Butter Powder (I have portion control issues with regular peanut butter so I no longer purchase it. The first step is admitting you have a problem) 100 Calorie Almond Packs

Veggie HEAVY: Broccoli, Spinach, Normandy Blend Steamables, Bellpepper, Edamame if I'm feeling frisky

I've tried to eliminate diet sodas from my diet but it is challenging for me. Some days are better than others. True confessions: I always give into my biggest weakness over the weekend. Hello my name is Leigh Ann and I'm addicted to Sonic's Route 44 Sprite Zero with Mango. Hi Leigh Ann.

In running news: WOMP WOMP WOMP. My knee is fighting me Every. Single. Day. but it is getting better. I have to remind myself daily that I JUST injured it 12 days ago. I rested my knee Thursday, and was able to do more of the lunges in Body Pump Friday morning. WIN!

Side Note- Bumped into Anna and her sister from Running on Plenty! We should have taken a pic, but who's photogenic at 5:30am?! Wasn't one of her resolutions to take more pictures this year?

Progress not perfection.

I am not a patient person. I am however seeing improvements in my squats. This has never been a strong area for me so for that I am happy! Annual beach vacay is on the books.

Good gravy I am so random.

I hinted at something big we're working on earlier this week, and I'm ready to elaborate. Don't worry hunnie I won't air all of our dirty laundry. We are in the process of buying our first home and holy canolies I am overwhelmed. I am not a numbers person. No one is surprised.

It's Friday, Friday, gotta get down on Friday

Two pounds lighter AND jean day. Christmas comes early! Oh wait.... my tree is still up.

Protein Waffles & Sneax Day(s)

My lack of posting this week has been down to two Sneaux Days, only we never had any snow. We've had a wintry mix, translation, cold, ice, slush trapped inside. I didn't have much to write about other than, it's cold and we have cabin fever! Monday I tried Yoga for the first time in years. I went to a class over lunch with a co-worker. It took me awhile to relax and enjoy the class, but I must admit that I felt so calm and well rested at the end, like I had taken a two hour nap in the middle of the day. I will definitely try and add in one yoga class per week. Monday afternoon I made it to RIPPED. A normal day before we went on lock down.

Tuesday morning we hit up the gym and ran my goal distance of two miles. My knee was hurting when I got there but I was able to complete the run. I made the decision to take a rest day Wednesday, iced in, and give my knee a break. My goal is to run 4 miles this evening, we'll see what happens.

I know everyone up North is thinking, what the heck is up with these dramatic southerners?! Our cities are simply not prepared for inclement winter weather. The city rushed out to purchase salt and sand to cover a few of our main bridges, there are over a hundred in the city limits, and they found enough salt for 6, and we have no snow plow. I's been an interesting couple of days. I know now without any doubts I'm not cut out to be a figure skater- crushing life long dreams thanks sneaux day.

I did get creative with breakfast since I had all that extra time on my hands! Protien waffles are easy, and a great cure for a sweet tooth!

1 Scoop Cookies & Cream Whey Protein Powder
1 Tablespoon baking powder
1 Tablespoon Cinnamon
1/4 Cup Liquid Egg Whites

I topped my waffles with Walden Farms Calorie Free Syrup and homemade fig preserves my mother in law gave us! Delicious!

210 Calories 1F 15C 34P

I hope everyone is staying safe and warm! Who is ready for summer?! THIS GIRL!

I NEED a tan.

Cleanse Day One, Injury Update, Weekly Work Out Goals

Good morning party people and happy Monday to you! I'm juggling 18 million hats this week, so the blog will likely be spaztaztic. If you're new here, I'm sorry, but you'll have to adjust. Today is Advocare Cleanse day one, so far so good! I've had my SPARK! this morning, and breakfast of egg whites, spinach, and fresh pineapple. Watch out Monday I am coming for you! I've done the cleanse twice before, and it's been a great way to kick start those numbers rolling in the direction I want them to: Down down to loser town!

I did not fall out this weekend Praise baby J, it really is a miracle and I'm down to pre-Christmas weight. It felt fan-freaking-tastic to step on the scale this morning and not think Let's see how much fun I had this weekend- in numbers! I'd like to lose about 10 pounds and really make all my lady muscles stand out. Since I can't run right now it's the perfect time to focus on shedding fat! Oh yeahs!

Post marathon knee drama (It's been one week and a day) work outs have gone like this:

Monday: Rest Day- Little to no walking. Laid up on the couch 90% of the day.

Tuesday- Rest Day- Back at work, and went to the doctor. Cleared to run as long as it is pain free. Walking like a thriller video extra, but so HAPPY to be out of the house. I'm not cut out to stay at home.

Wednesday- Rest Day- walking better, knee still acting up. Itching to exercise

Thursday- Body Pump- went really well, can't do lunges on my left leg but could do everything else

Friday- 40 minutes Elliptical (going backwards agitated my knee but I'm so hard headed I did it anyway) Body Pump. Still can't lunge on the left leg

Saturday- 30 Minutes Stair Master. Knee felt great! 20 Minutes Strength Training. Oddly enough going Down stairs bothers my knee more than going up.

Sunday- Back on the treadmill one week post marathon. Started off with a brisk walk, felt great, so I turned up the pace and started going at a 6.0 (easy pace for me). It felt so great to RUN. Somebody left the gate open! Full disclosure: my knee started hurting at 3/4 of a mile in. Not a good sign. Sooooo I turned up the pace and got to a mile faster then brought it back to a brisk walk. I worked out with Madeline and we did a HEAVY leg day. I can now lunge on my left leg! Monday morning legs feel awesome in that I tore it up kind of way. Thinking I'll try two miles on Tuesday, getting so crazy around here, but we shall see it's all up the knee. I am so cheesy this morning!

This week's Work out Goals:

Monday: Lunchtime Yoga and Afternoon RIPPED

Tuesday: 2 Mile Run (Treadmill) & Strength- I'll probably turn this into an incline work out.

Wednesday: RIPPED

Thursday: 4 Mile Run (Knee permitting) & Strength

Friday: AM Body Pump

Saturday: Long Run (Knee Permitting)

Sunday: Rest (Tentative)

In other news, I've got my eye on something that I want bad bad. Which only means one thing : full steam ahead until I get exactly what I want. Pray for my husband's sanity. He LOVES when I get organized and focused on a goal that involves him. HA! Seriously, cross everything you own and say a little pray because I have the I WANTS something intense. I hope I can tell you about this SOON!

Peace, love, and the good juju to all of you this week!

$350 Tall Clothing Mall Give Away

Last week, I was approached by Tall Clothing Mall to participate in a give away celebrating their 7th anniversary! Obviously, I was super excited to participate!

For those of you who don't know, I am taller than the average girl.  I'm a solid 6'0 feet tall when barefoot. If you meet me in real life, it's the first thing you'll notice about me. Unless I'm sitting down, however, we'll more than likely discuss my height when I inevitably have to stand up. I'm used to the tall inquisition, and I can rattle off my height faster than the average person. Years of practice!

Being a tall person comes with many advantages and also comes with many challenges. I could do an entire post on the awkwardness that comes with towering over other people. In the South, tall girls are the minority in a big way. The unexpected eye contact when I travel up north is always a surprise. Other funny things have happened there. I just found something new to write about....

Back on topic ADD girl

One of the biggest challenges is in the clothing department. Pants are ALWAYS an issue. I can not walk into any store today right now and buy a pair of pants that will be long enough me. It's not going to happen. Hello special order! I also have  ginormous feet. My size 11 feet prevent me from dropping cheddar in the shoe department, and let's be real, that's probably a good thing. However, recently, I have discovered a handful of fashion blogs just for the long legged ladies. We have our own genre!!! Excite. These ladies find clothing made specifically for tall women and post on where to shop and what to buy. There's also smatterings of tall chatter taking place that have me feeling OHEMGEE I'm not alone! ME TOO! My  two favorites right now are All the Tall Things and Tall Snob. I am such a wannabe fashionista.

I have a lot of luck with tops at Target- Vest (Late December) and Blouse (Last Spring)

I teamed up with Tall Clothing Mall for a $350 give away for one lucky tall lady. All you have to do is head here to participate, and register to win!

How tall are you? Do you have an awkward tall person story? I'd love to hear it!

Rest and a Give Away

I'm onto rest day four, post marathon knee drama, and I'm not cut out for this mess. I need to work out like I need to breath. I don't want to be stupid here, but oye. The boredom! I need to sweat, I need to be challenged. Daily.

I wasn't able to make lunch time yoga Wednesday due to a last minute work meeting. I was tempted to try a cycling class, but I think that may be too much repetitive impact at this point. I'm getting around less like a Walking Dead walker and more like something awkward is going on there but I can't figure out what kinda gangsta lean. I'm going to try a work out this afternoon. Four days is too long to do without any type of exercise.I need to get to the gym, throw on some head phones and zone out!

In other news.....

Today I'm participating in a Give Away wish Ashley from Ash's Right Direction! Everyone loves getting free stuff on a big Thursday! Follow the instructions bellow to toss your name into the hat!
