Heat + Running & Charly and Company Give Away

Happy Friday!!! We made it! I literally just came off the road from another hot, humid, summer run, and let me tell ya, this South Louisiana weather is no joke! My outdoor pace is suffering because of it. That's ok though, because I have been getting after it in doors when the heat just won't allow. I moved up my "weekend run" for half marathon training round two, to Friday, as we're about to head off to hit the beach! Don't worry, there's lots going on next week, and you do not want to miss out!

This morning, I had a 5k run on the schedule, I actually ran further on the treadmill yesterday, but I wanted to get out and hit the road this morning! The weather has been playing a major factor in my run times lately Hot, humid air are not the best conditions for running! This run was tough, and the last mile got really, really slow (for me), but I finished! Stay hydrated, keee yawww it's smokin out there!

5k, Legs, Abs = Best Way to Start the Day!
When I'm running a really difficult run, I always remind myself of a few different things.
  1. I could feel like a ton of lead bricks because I'm tired. Did I work out extra hard this week? What exercises did I do the day previously? A leg day should NEVER be followed up with a run day.
  2. It's just a training run, complete the mileage. This is not a race. Chill home girl.
  3. One foot in front of the other, you're going to get there. One step at a time.
  4. Summer runs suck. Just get over it already!
One of my Sole Sistas  (thanks lady!) shared this information with me, which explains why some summer runs (all runs in general) ,I feel like I'm flying, and others, like the run I just had, I feel like a block of lead bricks.
Dew Point this morning at 6:30am was 73
Stay hydrated and safe out there peeps! Don't beat yourself up if you're moving slower than normal, you're beating everyone on the couch ;)

  7. Ahh so glad we don't have that humidity here in Colorado! Still pretty hot though so I have been getting my runs in on the dreadmill :/ Working on completing couch-2-5k but I get sooo bored with it. Would much rather do sprint intervals. Gonna work on a good playlist and hope it pushes me past the 2.5 boredom barrier! Thanks for the inspiration lady!

  8. CUTE dress. Thank you for hosting the raffle. Goodluck with running in the heat and humidity. I can do heat all day long but humidity is a no no for me. The last I had a run in with humidity while jogging it ended in me tossing my cookies into my grandparents rose bush!ha

  20. Ugh, I don't even want to know how steamy it is down there for you! OK, tell me. What's the "feels like" temp? I'm bracing myself for the answer!

I'm following Jeff Galloway's plan for my half and he says this: When the temperature rises above 60° F: runners slow down by 30 seconds a mile for every 5 degrees above 60° F. That table you posted seems to line up with it.
